Lore 2010; My Year in Status

Apparently Facebook is taking over the world.

I am sure that the next update will have some type of subliminal message hidden in the new profile and as we hunt around to try to find the Poke button or the friend finder link we will suddenly be overtaken with the need to buy random Facebook paraphernalia (t-shirts, pens, bumper stickers, etc.). You don’t know it could happen!

I tried this handy little Facebook app, it allowed me to see all my status updates for the year… I thought it was kind of funny what small little tid-bits we share with the world about our lives.

Attention little deer’s that live in my neighborhood, if you choose to use my front yard as your toilet please aim for the grass and not the sidewalk in front of my mailbox! * A sure sign that you sit at your desk to much during the day: You have to pick you your keyboard and pound out all the crumbs! * Spring snow confuses three year olds, Kyle saw two “reindeer’s” run across the road this morning and with sheer excitement in his voice he said “Mom! That means Santa is coming back!” * If I find out who keeps putting bubbles in my pond I am going to have a hard time not sticking their HEAD in it next! * Oldest had wisdom teeth removed yesterday, wedding reception to attend tonight, all nighters at work on Friday for quarter end, moving a friend into my home Saturday, my country’s 500th anniversary to play, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder and Guilder to frame for it; I’m swamped. * I hate when I forget something I know I should remember, Ugh is this olds timers?! * Mean people suck!! * Ok, let’s open this up for discussion… Facebook stalking, acceptable or creepy? * This morning when I found out that there is no audio on my 52” TV I was a little upset, when I found out that it will take up to two weeks for the part to come in and be fixed I was a little more upset…hearing that BYU sucked again… well I don’t feel so bad right now that I missed it. * Ever have one of those days when you have a one sided argument with the driver next to you on the freeway because they are and idiot? * Benihana, The Nutcracker at Ballet West, and seeing the lights at Temple Square, what a great night with my family and friends!!

Looking back at my Binky Boy, aren't sleeping babies so darn cute!

July 3rd we went to Provo see the balloons, but do to the wind out of the canyon only a few left the ground. This past week Kyle noticed a new "high rise" building in the final stages of completion in Lindon and said "Hey mom, that is were we go to see that balloons, hu?" "No Kyle that is not the same place, we went to Provo to see the balloons." "Oh, ya, I knowed that." long pause... "We can go there tomorrow to see that balloons ok mom?!" "Uh, no Kyle it is not summer, we have to wait till July ok?" "Oh, man... but I want to go tomorrow!"
Sorry Kyle, sometimes I wish tomorrow as July 3rd too.

My cute family, willing to get up early, let me haul them to Provo, and for what? To stand around and watch the coke bottle balloon beat up the balloon next to it, to see the pig try to get off the ground. I am so glad they indulge my need to carry on this tradition.

One of the MANY reasons I love my cul-de-sac, 4th of July festivities. The water fight is awesome! Everyone in the entire neighborhood is invited, the road is semi blocked to traffic and the fight is on! Not even Cameron was safe from the water guns!

After the fight is a big BBQ and the evening is topped off with everyone doing their fireworks in the circle. The highlight every year is the "Ring of Fire!"

That is Pam, she has been cutting hair in our family for over 17 years, ya I know she looks like she is barely breaking 21.

Wow that is a LOT of hair! I fully understand why you loved the movie Rapunzel.

I am not sure what it is about this picture but I just love it, and I HATE feet!

When I saw that the chicken truck was going to be at Maceys I wanted to take the kids so bad, then I got sick.. so Becky took them and they brought me back pictures.

Is it just me or is there something creepy about a chicken man?

Alexis had her wisdom teeth taken out. I wanted to record the funny things she said as she came out of it, but they had to take longer getting them out due to the fact that the root on two of the teeth wanted to go up into her brain cavity... or something like that. I think this will be the only time Alexis will ever have full cheeks.

Strawberry Days in PG. Tracy and I went to take pictures at the carnival, again.

I love me a good Strawberry Days Rodeo! Britt looks excited about something, while Cam is just taking it all in... hey look, my mom is not making a funny face, go MOM!

Don't tell Brittany that they ran out of Strawberries and Cream... it doesn't go over well.

This picture was taken to perfectly frame the guy in the background, see, you can't stop looking at that guy now can you.

Kyle is getting into this whole Rodeo thing, I might just try to get him to muttin bust next year.

After half my life working in the same place in Lindon, we moved south to Springville (I am so not a fan of the commute! But happy to still have a job!)

Afraid of the Unknown

I have mixed feelings about 2011 and we are only 24 days into the year!

I have a feeling that 2011 it is going to be amazing, that doors opening to something wonderful kind of feeling, that new opportunity, and things are going to turn out GREAT kind of feeling.. and yet on the other hand I have that sick not sure HOW this is going to all come about...kind of feeling.

Getting up every day and having that same routine (i.e. get up, drop the boys off at daycare, go to work, get off work, pick up boys, go home, dinner, bath time, and bedtime...) is comfortable, there is security in routine. If you shake-up any one of your normal routine items then the whole karma balance is off in your life... for example if I were to have bath time before dinner, then someone is bound to dump a plate of spaghetti or milk in their lap, resulting in another bath, you know what I mean... you just don't mess with it.

So here is where I have a fear of the unknown. What happens when you take out a major part of that routine... let's say "go to work" then what? Well the boys don't go to daycare, for one, dinner is not take out, bath time before bedtime...and the whole dynamic in the house shifts just a little. Why did I use that one as my example... well let's just say that there is a HUGE possibility that within the next 4-8 weeks that this may be the case. My client (Adobe) that I have been working with for over 10 years (minus that little bit that I stayed home with Kyle) is consolidating their distribution. So we are not losing the business for anything negative, just simply because of current market trends. Considering that they are a large part of our division as a result I may be out of a job.

Ok, so this takes me back to my initial statement... “I have a feeling that 2011 it is going to be amazing..." Is it necessary to shake up your routine, make you look "outside the box" in order to find something better? Is that what is takes to force you to do better or to work harder at something new? I don't know, but it feels like that is what is happening.

The working harder, and the opportunity for something new don't exactly scare me, it is the UNKNOWN that scares me. Why can't I have normal routine AND new opportunity? Basically what I am saying is that I want my normal routine (or at least that steady paycheck).

Whatever this New Year brings I have hope; I have to, because pan handling is not the kind of "new opportunity" that I am talking about!

PG High School Prom was the 1st. Alexis was beautiful, despite having to be sewn into her dress it was a great evening for her. Oh and Tucker looked good too.

Due to a potential fire hazard with my oven I had to replace it. We went from a 13 year old coil model to a new flat surface... still have not warmed up to it yet.

The Grovecrest Dance festival was held on May 25th, it was a perfect sunny day! I paid Brittany $10 if she would run out into the field and dance with her teacher before everything started... that kid will do anything for money (with in reason!).





Courtney is was part of the student council at the Jr High and was given the awesome opportunity to call out the names of 1/4th of the 8th grade class and hand them their awards. She looks so happy.

Court is all smiles to get her certificates and graduate... ok not really I made her pose for this picture and she did not want to at all.

Brittany on the other hand was more than happy to pose for a picture with her teacher when I asked her.


Sometimes when you find a cool gift like this Aluminum Can Tab purse and you want to buy it you have to make up a reason, I decided an obscure holiday would work... like Earth Day. Happy Earth Day Alexis.

If you do one obscure holiday gift you have to do another... Happy Cinco de Mayo Courtney.


One of my favorite parts of May is the PG City Fireman's Breakfast, Kyle asked about it every day we past the station after the banner went up on the front of the fire house. When the big day came he was so excited and I was happy Donovan let me join them.



This was the first year that Kyle was excited to see "Mokey the Bear", Cam on the other hand was not quite sure.

Why do I even bother to buy breakfast at this thing? Oh ya, for the fire men, cuz I sure as heck have yet to eat my breakfast in how many years that we have attended! Every time the siren went off Cam had to stop eating too.

OK, this made my spring.... my super cool cousin 3, 4, 5, 6 times removed or something like that

was able to put in my curbing for a heck of a price. It is so amazing... I absolutely love it! Thank you Wayne!

The first weekend in April LDS General Conference is held. Between the two sessions our ward (aka neighborhood) has an "Emergency Preparedness Drill" we round up the family, our 72 hour kits and report to our meeting location. *note to self, rotate the 72 hour kit food, it has to be at least 6 years old (granted they are MRE's), change out the clothing (bonus the boys might fit into them now) and make a 72 hour kit for the two boys.


We take role to see if everyone is accounted for. Brittany made it out of the house ok. She lived.


We though we would arrive in style, I mean in the case of a REAL emergency we would use the 4 wheeler, why not at the drill too.


Easter, a time to paint eggs, hide them, and pretend a Bunny did it. So cute.

Apparently there is a lot of skill and precision that goes into coloring eggs.


And mighty fine eggs they are if I say so myself.

The Easter Bunny was EXTREMELY generous to one little boy. A John Deer Truck, What the Heck!

During Spring Break (April 5th through the 9th) we packed in as much as we could. We purchased two family passes before the week was over, one to Thanksgiving Point, the other to the zoo (pictures to follow). Watching the boys check out the dinosaur museum was great. They did not sit still for a second! Until you have something like this looking at you! Then bam, frozen little boy.


Want to entertain a one year old for as long as their poor little attention span will last... here is the recipe: One part water, a fistful of sand, and two plastic dinosaurs. **Caution sand will be eaten (see sand on mouth), and dinosaurs will be thrown!
Apparently this is not only the hot spot for a 1 year old... the rest of the crew was having a blast making a damn to block all the water from the poor little kids down stream! I almost appears that Brittany is taunting that kid in the white t-shirt.
After a day of checking out dinosaur bones and playing in sand there is nothing better than a Happy Meal from Mc Donald's... see how happy he is! They don't name them Happy Meals for nothing!

Season Pass #2 is to the Hogle Zoo. Train rides, animals, fresh air... can't beat that!

We were quick to discover that the Giraffe is Cameron's favorite animal! He does not get as excited with any other animal as he does when he rounds the corner towards the Giraffe building. Squeals of delight and awh come out of that little kid.

The zoo bought young love together. These two fought like cats and dogs when they were little.. er, but now the topic of discussion was on wedding plans. After this trip to the zoo several months went by discussing the colors that would be at Aspen and Kyles wedding. Green was the final color choice.

Cameron found his love too, Kettle Corn... a kid after my own heart!
The Bean Museum at BYU was also on our agenda for the week. We saw our fair share of animals that week.
Tracy rocked the Shameless Photography in the Spring. She is freaking awesome. For example this is what I see when we set up these girls. You get Tracy shooting the same thing and well...

POW! You get this from her! Amazing! You should hire us!


That was only one of many shoots we did in the year, one of the fun ones was Courtney in her Miley Cyrus hooker boots on State Street in SLC, her best smiles were when cars would drive by and whistle or cat call her!

More time at Thanksgiving Point, gotta get our moneys worth from that pass. Bare with me on multiple pictures form this location! We just missed this little guy being born by minutes, he had not even stood up when we arrived.

PG High School Prom dress hunting was easy! We found a cute little shop on main street in PG that will alter you dress for next to nothing and they typically only get in one of each style. Bonus. This one was absolutely perfect for Alexis.

Spring Chamber Choir Concert is so awesome. Courtney loves to sing and I love to hear her group, it is so soothing it put Cam right to sleep.
