Ever have one of those days that is going too well? You know that kind where the kids are all getting along and everyone is happy… like as if someone just won a Golden Ticket?
That was yesterday.
We have season tickets to the Scera Shell again this year and so I decided it was a beautiful day, Monday is family night, we should go to the play. The featured play this month is Willy Wonka and I had heard great reviews. So I called my mom to see if she could go with us and the conversation went a little like this:
My Mom: “It was over on the 17th Lore, we missed it!”
Lore: “umm, mom it’s the 12th”
My Mom: “Crap! I threw away my ticket this morning, now I have to dig in the garbage!”
I called the girls at home to make sure they wanted to go and they did, so did the new roommate. Alexis packed up everything we needed, including the tickets and they planned a trip to the store to pick up a bunch of Wonka candy for the show.
I got off work around 5 and headed home. On my way I stopped at Target to see if they had the shoes I wanted, they didn’t, so I was on my way out when my phone rang. It was Alexis the conversation went like this:
Alexis: “MOM! We need to go to Target they have really cute school clothes and backpacks and…” (Ok, that was when I tuned out cuz she was going on and on… so I interrupted her)
Lore: “Alexis, Alexis… where are you?”
Alexis: “Target, in Orem.”
Lore: “Where in Target?”
Alexis: “In Orem, by the school stuff.” “Where are you?”
Lore: “In Target.”
So then she got all excited and had to show me all the fun school supplies that they had found. Courtney ended up getting a new backpack and other things she needed. Alexis got a Scooby Dew Mystery Van lunch box, she is psyched about it.
Then I was off to get the boys, swing by Wendys for a quick dinner, and onto my mom’s. She had found her ticket.
When we arrived Becky and the girls had our seats saved on the 2nd row, perfect, it was busy for a play night.
From the moment the play started Cameron and Kyle were glued! Alexis shared her Wonka candy, the big hit was the Wonka Gummy Sours; we went through 2 bags. Becky had Gobstoppers, Britt had a giant Pixie Stick, and I had a Nerds Rope.

When the play was over Brittany said it was the best play she has ever seen and wants to go back again. Kyle was walking and singing the Umpa-Lumpa song and Cam was doing his bouncing dance thing he does.
Sounds like a great day and a wonderful evening, the way it should be. Then we drove home.
I took my mom, the boys, and Britt with me. We dropped off my mom and took Geneva road home. About half way down the road Brittany starts yelling “MOM, MOM, KYLE IS CHOKING!” I instinctively veer off the road, slam on the breaks and with that mom lightening speed unbuckle my seatbelt, jump out, fling open his door to find him throwing up all over!
UGH!
“Kyle are you ok?”
Why do moms ask this?
Isn’t it obvious!
NO... he is NOT OK!
When Kyle stopped throwing up all his nuggets, French fries and Wonka gummy’s he looked up with sad puppy eyes, hung his head in shame and said in a soft, sad voice “I ate too much candy”. (Ummm ya, ya think!) At that moment Brittany and I started to laugh, it was so sad, and the truck smelled so bad, we had no other option at that point but laugh.
So I got back in the truck and started home as fast as I could, only to notice that I could not tell how fast I really was going. My speedometer was just hanging there, like Kyle’s sad little head.
Great!
When I arrived home Britt ran to start the bath water and I took puke butt out of the truck. Oh let me tell you how much fun unbuckling a stinky, sticky, slimy, gummy bug chunk covered seat belt is… well I will let you just think about it.
Still thinking?
So I dry heaved a few times as Becky drove up and told me she had it from here and was going to clean out the truck.
So I undressed Kyle in the front yard, down to nothing. Becky was off to get rags and stuff to wash the seats and carpet. I was still working on taking the car seat apart when Becky started on the truck… oh ya tough Becky did exactly what I did... it was that gross! Half way through she asked me where all that food came from.. He is so little!
We cleaned for over an hour; scrubbing the carpet, using leather wipes, Lysol spray, and carpet cleaner, and laughing through most of it, we got it all cleaned up, or so I thought. I left the truck windows open all night and this morning I found an area that we missed! UGH, it still smells! Dang it!
So it was an ALMOST perfect day, I knew it was going to good. The best part was that even though it ended the way it did we had a great laugh about it, because it was a Wonka day!
I will be getting the carpets cleaned.
