Next Blog>>

Hitting the Next Blog >> button is like some weird rush. You never know what you’re going to get with that next sight, will it be a site from Germany with beautiful pictures of the local landscape, a collage student complaining about the party scene, a foreign activist group written in a language you have no clue what it is. It is like gambling!

I have to admit I have wasted chunks of time hitting that dang button over and over. I almost have a feeling of voyeurism. Peeping onto someone else’s life, their views, their thoughts; it is kind of twisted when you think about it. In a world where people are worried about identity theft or just to scared to talk to the person in line next to you at the grocery store, we do this… we blog… lets post our lives on the World Wide Web.

Admit it, you hit that button too. I know someone is. My counter increases every day and I know I don’t have that many friends or family that are taking time to read what I have to say. But if you are one of those kind individuals that happens to visit this blog and you take a moment out of your life to read it, please leave me a comment so that I know that my counter is not broken.

Thank you.

Posting for the numbers

This blog-off thing is harder than I thought. I miss one day and my numbers are off. So I have to double up today. So this fine post is simply for the numbers folks!
I thought I would throw in a few pictures of my other two children. I have failed to include pictures of them and I kind of feel bad about that. These are from last summer and my sissy took better pictures of them, but I don't have hers so I had to post mine.
Oh and as a side note… the furry hat picture of Brittany got votes in class.

You don’t appreciate it till it’s gone.

There are so many things in this world that we take for granted each and every day. The things that make life a better place, and yet we don’t take time to truly appreciate them. I want to take a moment and point out a few:

1. Straws, yes straws. Let me give you an example; you go to your favorite drive up, order a drink with those fries, you pay, and drive off with your order, only to find that you did not get a straw! You miss that sucker now don’t ya!

2. Health. Two out of my four children have been suffering from the evil flu this past week. Fevers, chills, loss of appetite, and some vomiting, oh-ya it has been fun! As soon as I felt it coming on I started consuming so much vitamin C that I am just waiting to turn orange. I miss my healthy family.

3. Toilet Paper… enough said.

4. Your spouse or significant other. Admit it; you take this person for granted. One day that person will be gone, either for a business trip, personal vacation, or because they just don’t love you any more and that is the moment that you realize that you really do Love them and wish you would have done more for them. So make today that day. Oh please note* I said spouse OR significant other, not both, unless your religion encourages that sort of thing. (Yes, that is a slam)

5. Youth. I may look a heck of a lot younger, or at least I have a lot of people in my life that feel the need to lie to me, but I have to admit I don’t feel like I did in my 20’s. My back hurts for no reason, my hair is falling out at an abnormal rate, and skin spots… seriously! I miss my youth.

6. Naps, remember them? Sure as a stay at home mom you may think I could sneak in a few. Ummm no! When my son goes down I spend my time cleaning up the house; dishes, laundry, picking up his toys. I can now add to that list: updating my Blog.

I hope you take a moment today to appreciate the things you take for granted. I am sure I have missed a few so let me know what you would take for granted.

A furry hat makes for good pictures.

I have to admit, taking a photography class makes a difference in the quality of a photo.
I have owned a camera since I was 13 and in high school I thought I was ALL THAT with my Canon SLR camera with a telephoto lens (for a 16 year old, I have to admit it was nice equipment). I took every photo class available in school, and even classes offered in the summer at the collage. But times have changed!

The digital world of photography is a whole new ball game. Suddenly EVERYONE thinks they are a great photographer.. I guess when you can shoot 100 pictures of the same thing and not worry about the film you’re bound to get a good one.
I don’t plan to be teachers pet this week, but here are the pictures that are being turned in for our portrait and candid assignment. Let me know what you think.

The Teachers Pet!

Recently my sister and I started taking a photography class at UVSC. The intermediate digital SLR class that we are taking requires us to send in assignments each week based on what we learned from the week prior. These pictures are shown at the beginning of the next class and voted on by all of the students.
This past week our pictures were on Aperture. My awesome sister and I went out to take pictures for our assignment and I have to admit I struggled understanding the whole concept, until my sweet sister had me change lenses and actually showed me how to get a shallow depth of field picture. Oh… now I get it! The irony of this is that the picture that I was struggling with turned out to be the picture that our extremely cool teacher, Rex Allen, picked as one of his favorites for the week, oh, and it was voted by the class also.
As a side note, I have to admit, Tracy would have taken the votes and teachers favorite, but he did not get her picture into the slide show.
Sorry Sissy!

Wasting your time with MY BLOG!

I am jumping on the band wagon… actually I don’t have a life and if my sissy thinks it is cool I will try it, at least once… if it is with in my moral boundaries.

My sissy has an awesome way with words and I have loved to read the posts on her blog. Recently with the Blog Wars that have started with her circle of friends it has increased the number of posts and has made it far more interesting. I got to thinking… this looks like a fun way to waste some time. I have to admit I am no where near the literary genius that my sister is, but I will give it a go.
